 Overview
Fluoroscopy is a form of basic X-ray that uses a special piece
of equipment called a fluoroscope. The radiologist and a specially
trained technologist use this instrument to observe organs
in real time. Contrast that is swallowed or injected is watched
for any unusual patterns to help in a diagnosis. The most common
is the GI tract exam where barium is swallowed and watched
as it passes thru the stomach. Many organs, such as the kidneys,
gall bladder, and arteries also can be examined this way.
Preparation for Exam
Preparation will vary on the organ to be viewed. Please tell the staff if you are pregnant.
Exam Time
The length of the exam will vary depending on the examination.
Exam Results
After your exam, the radiologist will review your images and a report will be sent directly to your physician. Reports are available within 24 to 72 hours. |
